Ingredients
1. Potato: 1 kg 2. Cornflour: 50 gm 3. Salt to taste 4. Ghee for frying |
5. Green peas: 150 gm(For filling) 6. Cumin seeds: 3 gm 7. Coriander seeds: 20 gm 8. Red chilli powder: 5 gm |

Method: 1. Boil, cool, peel and grate potatoes. Add cornflour and salt. Mix well. Divide into 12 equal round balls. 2. For filling, boil peas until cooked. Drain. 3. Heat ghee in a kadhai, add cumin, and saute over medium heat until it crackles. 4. Add peas and stir for a minute. Add the remaining ingredients and stir for another minute. 5. Cool and mash the peas. Divide into 12 equal portions. 6. Flatten each potato roundel in the palm of your hand and place a portion of the filling in the middle, and shape into balls again, flattening into inch-thick patties 7. Heat ghee in a pan and shallow fry the tikki over medium heat until golden brown and crisp on both sides. 8. Press down with a spatula and remove. Serve with mint chutney and sweet tamarind chutney. |
